Anti-inflammatory Activity: Many in vitro and in vivo studies have reported that phenylpropanoids, such as acteoside (verbascoside), possess antiinflammatory activity including the inhibition of iNOS (inducible nitric oxide synthase), the enzyme forming NO during inflammatory processes. NO is also known to increase membrane permeability which leads to oedema and leukocyte migration.

In another in vitro study, the anti-inflammatory effect was measured in a primary culture of human keratinocytes stimulated by TNF-a to induce the release of interleukin 8 (IL-8), a potent pro-inflammatory chemiokine. It was also found that ArTT inhibited 5a- reductase in vitro by 85% as compared with a 48% inhibition produced by an extract of Serenoa repens, already widely used as a nutritional supplement and treatment for BPH.

Moreover, in vivo, ArTT given orally produced a significant lowering of dihydrotestosterone levels in the blood and in the prostate gland for a longer time than did finasteride, a steroidal structure commonly used in the treatment of BPH (19).

Arginine

Arginine is found to be present in very high concentrations in the human skin and in the connective tissues. The presence of arginine in the body helps in the rapid healing and repair of damaged tissues in the human body.

Acetyl Tyrosine (Acetyl Tyrosine) Amino Acid

The amino acid L-tyrosine is a precursor for several substances made in the body including melanins, the pigments largely responsible for skin and hair color.

Arctium Majus (Burdock) Root Extract

This plant has been used since the 15th century as food and against skin ailments and other disorders.

Burdock Root Extract contains organic zinc salts that have antiseptic properties. The zinc plays an important role in the enzyme actions for regenerating damaged tissues. Its antibacterial and antifungal actions have made it effective for helping acne, psoriasis, eczema and other types of dermatitis. Burdock Root possesses also emollient and softening properties that help to improve skin comfort.

Calcium Pantothenate

Calcium Pantothenate is also called Pantothenic Acid or Vitamin B5. This is a water soluble vitamin which is found in the cells and is necessary for the release of energy from carbohydrates, the synthesis and degradation of fatty acids.
Vitamin B5 is required to gain resistance to stress, shock and allergies, plus protection against radiation-caused cellular damage. This vitamin is also required for the production of steroid hormones, the adrenal glands’ production of hormones and nervous system function.

Zinc Gluconate

Zinc is a naturally occurring mineral that is needed for healthy growth and development of the body's tissues. Zinc gluconate is an ionic compound of two moles of gluconate to one mole of zinc. Because zinc is important for cell division, it supports regeneration of skin after it is injured by a cut or abrasion. According to the National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements, doctors often recommend zinc supplements for patients with skin ulcers. Zinc supplements may also help heal cold sores, burns, incisions and other skin irritations.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide is a water-soluble vitamin and is part of the vitamin B group. has demonstrated anti-inflammatory actions that may be of benefit to patients with inflammatory skin conditions.[4] These conditions include acne vulgaris, and the compound can suppress antigen-induced, lymphocytic transformation and inhibit 3'-5' cyclic AMP phosphodiesterase. Nicotinamide has demonstrated the ability to block the inflammatory actions of iodides known to precipitate or exacerbate inflammatory acne.

Ornithine HCL

Ornithine HCl is an amino acid that is considered an essential part of the diet and is a building block for the proteins used in the growth and repair of muscles. Naturally, Ornithine HCL can be found in small quantities in a variety of foods including meat and seeds.

Citrulline (Citrulline) Amino Acid

Citrulline is an amino acid which is derived from food sources such as watermelon which is how it got its name.

Citrulline has been shown to play key roles in helping to regulate the nitrogen balance in the bloodstream and in metabolism. It also works in vasodilation or relaxation of the blood vessels. This helps the circulatory system to bring more blood and oxygen to the body.

This substance has been found to be present in certain hair fibers, skin cells and nerve cells as well.

Biotin

A water-soluble organic acid belonging to the vitamin B complex that is important in the metabolism of carbohydrates and fatty acids. It is also a cofactor for some coenzymes that catalyze the synthesis of organic acids in the body. Biotin is found in liver, egg yolks, milk, yeast, and some vegetables.

Lecithin

Lecithin is a plant phospholipid derived from soybeans. It acts as a natural emulsifier in creams and lotions as well as sothing and moisturizing agent on the skin.

Tocopherol (Vitamin E) From Plant Oil

Tocopherol or Viamin E can be derived from many plant oils, especially wheat germ, soy and oat. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that stimulates the immune system.

The ozone present in polluted air decreases Vitamin E content in the stratus corneum, accelerating oxidation and destruction of membrane lipids, which in turns causes skin issues. For this reason, it is important to apply tocopherol topically to replenish the Vitamin E lost by the action of ozone on skin.
